Between 4,000 and 5,000 people had come from Belgium, but also from France, the Netherlands, England and even Lithuania. Concrete blocks placed at the entrances did not slow down the revelers this weekend.

Maxime, a Norman, took part in the gigantic clandestine party in Sombreffe: "Everything was organized at the last minute" Olivia François and Michael Harvie, published on January 02, 2023 at 1:24 p.m.

The security services and the municipal authorities are powerless in the face of the organization of rave parties. As we told you about it, in Sombreffe, on New Year's Eve, in a few hours, 4000 people set up a gigantic clandestine party in several hangars. No safety standards were respected and the event could have quickly turned tragic. The owner of the premises plans to sue the city.

At 10:30 am, this Monday, Maxime had just got up. After more than 20 hours of partying and a lot of alcohol consumed, he needed some sleep. He came specially from Normandy to attend the clandestine party. "We received the info at the last minute. 2-3 weeks ago they released a flyer on the networks announcing a big coalition of their system for the New Year and everything was done at the last minute, on Saturday evening with messages between us. They sent the assembly points," he said.

The event was organized by a collective called Sound System. The French follow them regularly. "It's several months of preparation for an evening."

Between 4,000 and 5,000 people had come from Belgium, but also from France, the Netherlands, England and even Lithuania. On the site, there is a lot of waste, not to mention the surroundings. Municipal workers came early this morning to see the damage and clean up.

The municipality of Sombreffe will file a complaint with the constitution of civil parties. “It is not normal to be able to organize this situation that we have known illegally. These are very significant risks. You must realize that it happened in an industrial zone with mini seveso companies. could have had much greater difficulties than what we experienced", insists Etienne Bertrand, the mayor of Sombreffe.

The site had already been visited twice by travelers and the concrete blocks placed at the entrances did not slow down the revelers this weekend.
