"U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has a long history of violating constitutional and other rights of both immigrants and U.S. citizens. More precisely, agents of the Border Patrol (a component agency of CBP) are known for regularly overstepping the boundaries of their authority by using excessive force, detaining people under inhumane conditions, and using coercion and misinformation to remove people from the United States."
There is no transparency in the US Border Patrol. The norm was established by the KKK and Texas Rangers, who were the core of the agency at it's founding, and established a culture of casual racism. A study was done at the start of Donald Trump's first term in office. Information from CBP was sparse, but abuses included willing running a woman over with her own car. The bulk of complaints were not made public, but among those that were, 96% resulted in "no action taken". The data used for the study was from 2009-2012 during Obama's first term. The results of the study, followed by complete silence should raise suspicions going forward. You can read the study online, or download the pdf before you read the news today about a border patrol agent shot at a traffic stop. It is interesting they have not circulated a wanted posted for the driver who shot a border patrol agent. It might reveal the race of the driver, and make us wonder what scenario precipitated this shooting.
